A development application for 51 new homes on Jetty Road in Old Beach has been approved by the Brighton Council.
The proposal, which was met with 14 representations during the public submission process, includes 14 two-bedroom units, 32 three-bedroom units and seven four-bedroom units.
Senior Planner Jo Blackwell told a recent council meeting that the development will provide a mix of housing across approximately 1.7 hectares.
“Singular access to the site is proposed by the existing 15-metre wide access at 38 Jetty Road and that area will also accommodate the visitor parking spaces on the site,” she said.

Blackwell said the representations received “repeated the same concerns” about density, privacy, overshadowing, traffic and construction management as well as waste collection.
The development will provide 124 car parking spaces, including 18 visitor parking spaces, with two spaces allocated to each home.
