A person remains in hospital with serious injuries following a crash on Highland Lakes Road near Bothwell.
The crash involving a white Mitsubishi Challenger with New South Wales plates occurred around 5pm on Thursday.
Initial investigations indicate the 4WD was travelling east out of Bothwell when the driver lost control, police say.
The vehicle left the road and ended up in a nearby paddock.
The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the passenger was seriously injured.
Both were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Police say early inquiries suggest driver fatigue, excessive speed and inexperience may have been contributing factors to the crash.
Highland Lakes Road was closed for around six hours to allow emergency services to investigate the scene.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Bothwell Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000.
