Emergency services were called to the home a short time later after reports of a disturbance, where they found the man driving a vehicle nearby.

Police allege the man assaulted the 29-year-old occupant of the home, setting fire to the inside of the property and nearby vegetation shortly afterward.

They also say he drove a vehicle while intoxicated and disqualified from driving.

A person living at the address was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged.
