Work is set to begin on a long-awaited upgrade to the popular Elizabeth and Patrick streets intersection today.
The project, which is expected to take eight weeks to complete, aims to improve safety for both pedestrians and drivers and will include a new level pedestrian crossing, traffic islands, and kerb extensions to the area.
A ‘direct response’ to safety concerns raised by the community, the project is being funded by the Australian Government’s road safety Black Spot Program and the City of Hobart’s capital works budget.
The roadworks will be staged to minimize disruption and access to local businesses will be maintained, however, there will be a traffic management plan in place and some car parking spaces may not be available at certain times.
