A Hobart family has been left shaken after a piece of metal came crashing through their windscreen while driving south on Hobart’s Southern Outlet.
The incident occurred around 12pm on Sunday, with police now searching for the driver of the white vehicle missing its exhaust pipe.
The wife of the driver involved took to social media to say her husband was ‘in shock’.
“[There was] so much glass in the front seats,” she said.
“I am so blessed that my 12-year-old daughter was in the back seat.”
Police said the incident was “thankfully” not more serious.
“… no one was injured in the incident and no crashes occurred,” police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the car involved, dashcam footage of the incident or who was travelling in the area at the time to come forward.
“Police would also like to remind all motorists to check their vehicles are roadworthy and to make sure exhausts and anything the vehicle carrying is secure,” a spokesperson said.
