Flood-damaged Burnie library to remain closed for several more days

No books or equipment were damaged during the flooding incident

Burnie’s public library will stay closed for several more days after recent flooding caused damage to the ground floor and basement.

The Department of Education, Children and Young People estimates the library will reopen with reduced services on September 30.

Fortunately, no books or equipment were damaged in the flood, the cause of which is still under investigation.

Cleaning and repairs are currently underway, including replacing damaged carpets and cabinets.

Burnie’s public library remains closed due to recent flooding damage

Library members can return borrowed items at nearby libraries in Wynyard, Penguin, Ulverstone or Devonport and keep them until the Burnie Library reopens.

Holds placed on items will also be paused and ready for collection when the library reopens.
