Hobart community remembers Riley Braslin, 18, after fatal crash

Friends and family of Hobart teenager Riley Braslin have shared heartfelt tributes to the “beautiful young man” after he lost his life in a crash on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

The 18-year-old is remembered by loved ones as a “beautiful boy taken way too soon” who will be “missed forever”.

Braslin worked as a first-year electrical apprentice at RCBO Electrical in Moonah.

The company expressed their grief over the untimely loss of their young employee on social media.

“Taken far too soon, Riley you will forever be in our hearts,” they wrote.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Riley’s family during this time. Rest easy mate.”

The Hobart Phoenix Basketball Association, sharing the Sunday evening Pulse story on social media, said Braslin played for the club in 2022 and 2023.

They described him as popular “on and off the court”. “Our deepest sympathy goes out to … family members and friends during this difficult time,” they said.

Derwent Valley Mayor Michelle Dracoulis also shared her condolences, offering thoughts and prayers to the Braslin family.

“I pray the others injured in this horrific accident have a fast and full recovery,” she said.

“My deepest gratitude goes out to our first responders and dedicated health personnel.”

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash, which left three others, including the driver of the vehicle Braslin was in, seriously injured.
