Huonville man arrested over $40,000 tool thefts from tradies vehicles

A 27-year-old Huonville man has been charged in connection with multiple burglaries and thefts targeted at tradies’ vehicles in recent weeks.

Over the past two weeks, nearly $40,000 worth of property, including power tools and other equipment, has been reported stolen in Hobart and Kingston.

So far, police have managed to recover approximately $15,000 worth of stolen goods.

The suspect is now facing a total of 14 charges of stealing, 12 charges of burglary, 10 charges of dishonestly acquiring a financial advantage, 1 charge of attempted burglary and 1 charge of unlawfully tampering or interfering with a motor vehicle.

He is scheduled to appear in court in August.

Kingston Police are appealing to the public for any information about these incidents or anyone who recognises their belongings to come forward and contact them at 131 444.

Tasmania Police strongly advise the public to take precautionary measures such as securing their vehicles, keeping valuables inside, and parking in well-lit areas equipped with CCTV.

These steps can help prevent similar incidents from occurring.
