A woman who slipped and fell down a bank on a remote Tasmanian reserve walking track has been successfully rescued.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the Liffey Falls track, north of the Great Lake Conservation Area, earlier this week after a woman sustained injuries from a fall approximately 500 meters along the track.

However, due to the dense tree canopy, the helicopter couldn’t execute a winch operation.

Instead, a ground crew made up of Tasmania Police, SES and Ambulance Wilderness Paramedics initiated a vertical rescue operation and manually lifted the woman to safety.

Following the rescue, the woman was carefully transported on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance and then taken to hospital for treatment.
