The road leading to Macquarie Heads on the West Coast remains closed after recent storm damage eroded parts of it away.
Mayor Shane Pitt said a plan is underway to reinstate safe access to the beach “as soon as possible”.
“Given that it’s still actively eroding down there, we’re still working on a plan to resurrect that road … with Parks and Wildlife,” he told 7XS.
“Hopefully we should have something out to the public shortly with the plan moving forward with what’s going on.”
“We need to make sure that we get it right because … there’s still erosion [that is eating] that road away.”
Signage has been erected at the start of the road at the Caretakers Cottage, which Tasmania Police say is important to obey.
“Ignoring road closure signs puts lives at risk and risks the safety of emergency services who have to respond in those conditions,” they said during the weather event.
