The driver of a ute involved in a crash that toppled a power pole and brought down live wires before coming to a stop on a footpath in Launceston reportedly escaped serious injury, according to Police.

The two-car crash on Invermay Road was reported just before 7:30pm on Sunday night, with a section of the street between Forster Street and Eddie Street closed for around one hour while authorities cleared the scene.

Images taken shortly after the incident by NTEM show a power pole that had been completely destroyed in the crash, power lines across the road and a ute on a footpath outside a local IGA store.

Police say no one was seriously injured and reminded drivers to drive to the conditions, “especially on the wet roads”.
