The operators of the beloved Hobart pub Tom McHugo’s have revealed that they will be closing their doors for good in June, marking the end of an era for the popular watering hole.
Tom Westcott and Whitney Ball, the faces behind the 8-year-old Macquarie Street pub, shared the bittersweet news on Instagram and said that their lease would not be renewed.
Since its inception in 2016, Tom McHugo’s has quickly evolved into a community hub known for its commitment to local Tasmanian drinks and produce.
Westcott and Ball have expressed their deep gratitude to everyone who has been a part of their story over the last 8 years.
“This isn’t the end, now that we know our fate we will be working toward something else to continue beyond June,” they shared.
The pair said while they “are not sure what that looks like yet”, they will keep people posted.
