59-year-old man extradited to Tasmania for alleged child sexual abuse dating back two decades

A 59-year-old man is being extradited to Tasmania to face a charge of child sexual abuse for crimes allegedly first committed over two decades ago.

Detectives from the Northern Family and Sex Crimes Command travelled to Newcastle in New South Wales to bring the suspect back to Tasmania.

The man is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday, facing a single charge of persistent sexual abuse of a child or young person.

The allegations relate to incidents that are said to have taken place in Tasmania between 2003 and 2012.
