The newly crowned King Charles of England has sent a letter to one of Tasmania’s oldest resident, Joyce Donnelly, on the same day of his coronation.

Mrs Donnelly turned 105 years old and was surrounded by her family, friends and staff at the Umina Park aged care home in Burnie, where a party was held on Saturday to celebrate both occasions.

Mrs Donnelly, who revealed that good health is the secret to her long life, said it didn’t feel any different from any other day.

Meanwhile, Umina Park residents, including Mrs Donnelly, celebrated the coronation of King Charles in the dining hall decorated with Union Jacks.

They were treated to afternoon tea and children from the Milpara Early Learning Centre, donning handmade crowns, also paid a visit to the aged care facility.
