Person escapes burning home as authorities investigate Huonville blaze

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze that tore through the back of a Huonville home this evening.

Tasmania Fire Service crews arrived at the Shield Street address just before 7:30pm to find the rear of the home engulfed in flames.

The blaze was swiftly extinguished and the property ventilated, with the lone occupant having safely evacuated prior to their arrival.

Firefighters will return to the scene on Sunday morning to investigate the cause of the fire.
