“Scammers” promising to clean, seal and paint roofs for as low as $1,850 have reportedly returned to Tasmania.

Dozens of signs illegally attached to poles advertising their services have been spotted across the north-west coast in recent days.

Despite including an “All Work Guaranteed” tag at the bottom of their advertising, Tasmania Police have warned that this is often not the case.

“The scammers operate nationally … In some cases, they have completed the work despite the business or resident declining the offer, using intimidation tactics and providing what appears to be a legitimate business card or invoice,” police warned.

“In previous reports, the scammers spoke with English or Irish accents and used high pressure sales tactics or in this case, illegitimately low prices for roof painting.”

Central Coast Mayor Cheryl Fuller said her council were “doing what we can” to pull down the signage.

“Council will use its powers under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act to remove any illegal signs and will work with other agencies and land managers where misleading signs are placed where we don’t have authority to remove them,” she said.

Police urge anyone approached by the scammers or potentially impacted to contact them immediately.
