Police have issued a stern warning to drivers considering pushing the limits in the wake of the Easter weekend crackdown, after a young driver was caught more than double the speed limit.
The 21-year-old P-plater from Devonport was intercepted by police on Forth Road on Wednesday, travelling at 101km/h in a 50km/h zone.
As a consequence, the young man has had his licence disqualified and his vehicle clamped for the next few weeks.
“He’s [also] facing a fine of $1,121 and has received 6 demerit points,” police said.
“Our Easter road safety blitz might have come to an end, but our efforts haven’t.”
“Our Road Policing officers are still targeting those offenders who put our community at risk, so if you’re out and about this weekend, remember police are too.”
