Traffic controllers at a roadworks site on the Tasman Highway had a close call overnight when a vehicle slammed into their work ute.
The incident near Warrane occurred around 11pm on Thursday, police said.

It damaged the Stornoway traffic control vehicle, with the impact also shunting another vehicle.
None of the workers at the site were injured.
Authorities say the driver of the civilian vehicle involved left the scene on foot.
Police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
