A young girl has died in hospital following a tragic house fire that claimed the life of her sister two days ago.

The devastating blaze completely destroyed their aunt’s Rokeby home on Sunday during a family birthday celebration.

The fire killed 22-month-old Harlyn and left her five-year-old sister, Jordan, with critical injuries. Jordan succumbed to her injuries overnight.

Police said a 30-year-old also injured in the blaze remains in a stable condition in the Royal Hobart Hospital.

A 16-month-old, 10-year-old and 14-year-old have all been discharged.

Fire investigators have completed an investigation into the cause of the blaze, which they say started in the lounge room.

Inspector Andrew Keane yesterday said that there were “no suspicious circumstances” at play.

Deputy Chief of Operations at the Tasmania Fire Service Matt Lowe described the scene and subsequent investigation as “traumatic”.

“It’s had a significant impact on first responders who have done an incredible job under extreme circumstances,” he said.

“The impacts of this tragic fire have been felt by so many and our deepest condolences are with everyone affected.”

“I’d like to thank the local community for their assistance, especially the neighbours who came to the aid of those affected.”

A GoFundMe created to help the family rebuild their lives has so far raised close to $15,000.
