A fresh dusting of snow on Northern Tasmania’s Ben Lomond overnight has prompted a flurry of visitors to the popular ski mountain.
“It’s snowing… These photos were taken minutes ago! If you’re hunting snow, it’s here,” Ben Lomond Alpine Resort said in a social media post on Wednesday.
“You’ll need snow chains from the bottom of Jacob’s Ladder. You can hire these and warm clothing at Ben Lomond Base at the bottom of the mountain from 8:30am.”
Meanwhile in the south, Hobart’s kunanyi/Mt Wellington only received a light settling of snow, with most melting away by midday.
The weather comes after a cold front crossed Tasmania on Tuesday night, bringing with it south-westerly winds.
Temperatures are expected to sit between 15-19 degrees across the rest of the week, with some showers about the west.
