A man from Sorell is now nearly $100,000 richer after striking it big in the lottery with his late wife’s favorite numbers.
The unidentified man discovered his $85,631.85 win after a doctor’s appointment when he received a phone call from lottery officials.
He admitted to regularly purchasing lottery tickets but was left trembling with excitement upon realising his win.
“I rushed home and called my granddaughter to come help me,” he said.
“I usually check my tickets on the weekend and I didn’t realise I had won anything.”
He said he now plans to keep the win quiet for a while and celebrate with his granddaughter.
“It’s a very special win, that’s for sure. I’ll keep the win hush-hush for a while.”
“In the meantime, I’ll celebrate with my granddaughter and we’ll have to go out for a nice dinner.”
The winning ticket, featuring the numbers 6, 5, 9, 3, 8, and 0, was purchased at Sorell Lucky Agency.
