Tasmania’s rail network has been given the all-clear after a “severe and destructive” weather event brought down trees and caused disruptions across the state.
The storm caused extensive vegetation damage, with images showing large trees blocking tracks in various locations.
“We want to thank all of our frontline teams and contractors who have worked hard in challenging conditions to … ensure that our services can continue safely,” TasRail said.
Services have since resumed on all lines following inspections of the network, level crossings and signals.
TasRail operates over 600 kilometres of track, with freight connections to major centres like Launceston and Burnie.
The network also features over 1.3 million sleepers, 355 bridges, three tunnels and 106 active level crossings.
