Tasmanians are set to experience a “pre-summer heatwave” this weekend, with temperatures across the state to nudge close to 30 degrees.
Most areas will hover around 27 degrees on Friday, with the Derwent Valley forecast to reach 30 degrees on Saturday.
Hobart and the Huon Valley are also expected to hit similar highs.
Weatherzone forecasters say the “pulse of heat” will impact southeastern Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra and Hobart.
“Hobart’s exposure to this week’s heat will be brief … with the city expected to reach the low-twenties on Friday and around 28 degrees on Saturday,” they said.
Forecasters say it serves as a reminder that summer is just around the corner.
“This heatwave is not expected to be record-breaking and hot weather is not unusual at this time of year.”
“Some forecast models are showing early signs that a more intense heatwave could be on the cards for parts of Australia in the opening week of December.”
