17-year-old Tasmanian teen dies after being struck by falling tree branch in Dover

A teenage boy has died after he was struck by a falling tree branch on Sunday afternoon.

The 17-year-old was reportedly felling trees with his father in the local Dover area when he was struck just after 4pm yesterday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, while his father sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Tasmania Police officers are investigating the incident and will prepare a report for the coroner.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” police said.

Pulse understands the incident took place in the hills near Surges Bay.

Dozens of emergency service vehicles and the rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
