Arson charges have been laid against three people, including a 15-year-old, after two fires ignited within days of each other at a property in Hobart’s northern suburbs.
The first fire, allegedly lit on November 2 last year, completely destroyed the home on Blair Street in Lutana, while the second fire, just three days later, destroyed the garage.
Inspector Mark Burke said ongoing investigations have led police to charge a 15-year-old teenager, a 33-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man for arson.
He said further charges are expected as the investigation continues.
All three have since been released on bail, with both adults scheduled to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court in April.
The youth “will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act”.
“We would like to thank the local community for their assistance with the investigation so far,” Burke said.
