Elderly man, young woman taken to hospital after serious Brighton crash

Two people have been taken to hospital following a serious crash between a car and a ute overnight.

Emergency services responded to the two-vehicle collision on Glen Lea Road at Pontville, north of Hobart, around 5:30pm on Tuesday.

A silver Holden Cruze and a white Toyota Hilux sustained “extensive damage” in the crash, police said.

A 20-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries for treatment.

The road was closed while the scene was cleared.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are asking anyone with information to contact Bridgewater Police or Crime Stoppers Tasmania.
