Tasmania Police have launched an investigation into the brazen killing of multiple cows on a farm in the state’s Northern Midlands.

The incident occurred sometime between 6pm on Tuesday and 7:30am on Wednesday morning, with police estimating a timeframe of around 13-and-a-half hours.

Investigators believe the offenders cut a wire fence between Whitemore Road and Heazelwoods Lane and drove around 100 metres onto the property from the Bass Highway.

They then reportedly slaughtered the cows and stole their meat.

Authorities are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the Hagley area during that time.

They are also seeking dashcam footage passing motorists may have captured of a vehicle entering the property from the highway.

“Anyone with information about the incident … is asked to contact Deloraine Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania,” police said.
