Police say the injuries are not believed to be life threatening, but are urging motorists to be cautious as they pass through the area.

A bushfire sparked by what witnesses said were downed power lines has begun in the area, with firefighters called in to control the blaze.

The road remains open and traffic delays are likely, police said.

Initially, the crash caused a power outage affecting 2,315 homes and businesses across the coast at 2pm, with just over 1,200 still affected as of 3pm.

TasNetworks indicates that residents in the Black River, Boat Harbour, Crayfish Creek, Rocky Cape and Sisters Beach areas should expect to be reconnected later this afternoon.
