Two Tasmanian teenagers arrested for drug, firearms offences

Serious drug charges have been laid against two Tasmanian teenagers following a targeted raid of a Devonport property.

Specialist police from the Western Drug and Firearms Unit and the Dog Handlers Unit carried out the search on Wednesday morning, finding various amounts of ice, ecstasy, cannabis, counterfeit cash and a number of firearms.

According to authorities, the counterfeit bills totalled nearly $27,000 and the firearms found were three illegal imitation gel blasters.

Police have charged a 17-year-old boy with multiple offences following the bust, including trafficking in a controlled substance and possessing an illegal firearm.

A 16-year-old boy will be prosecuted under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act for multiple offences including selling, possessing and using a controlled drug.

Both teenagers are expected to appear before the court in the coming weeks.
