A 13-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and charged with common assault, unlawfully possessing a dangerous article in a public place (knife), possessing a controlled drug (cannabis) and breach of bail.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with common assault.

Inspector John Toohey said both boys will appear in the Hobart Youth Court in July.

“Tasmanians deserve to feel safe at home, out in public and in their workplaces, and police will continue to prioritise the safety of our community,” he said.

“When authorised by law we will do this by charging offenders and putting them before our courts.”

“Anyone who witnesses illegal or anti-social behaviour should report it to police on 131 444, or triple-zero (000) in an emergency.”
