A coroner has determined that the “sole cause” of a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Hobart man last year was “his reckless behaviour in travelling at very high speed in a suburban street”.

31-year-old Clarendon Vale man Bradley John Kremmer had “consumed alcohol and methamphetamine” before riding the motorcycle through Warrane in July 2022.

Kremmer, who did not hold a motorcycle licence, had purchased the Yamaha bike just three months before the crash using compensation funds from time spent at Ashley Youth Detention Centre as a youth, Coroner Olivia McTaggart said.

Approaching the T-intersection of Schouten Street and Dampier Street, Kremmer attempted to make a right-hand turn but lost control of the bike and slid across the road, colliding with a gutter.

Kremmer was then “thrown into the air”, landing in gravel car park approximately 10 metres from the curb.

Despite being rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital, he passed away early the following morning due to uncontrollable blood loss from his injuries.

Coroner McTaggart said there were “no issues” with the condition of the bike, the weather or the road and conveyed her condolences to his family and loved ones.
