Pulse understands the offender was the same woman who was caught driving drunk with two passengers in her car, including a young child, on Friday night.

The woman was detected behind the wheel almost four time the legal alcohol limit – returning a reading of 0.190 – at around 7pm the night before.

She was immediately disqualified from driving for 12 months and issued an excessive drink driving notice.

The 29-year-old wounding victim, who was known to the woman, was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for medical treatment following the attack and has since been released.

The woman was bailed to appear before the Burnie Court at a later date.

Police say the incident was isolated and there is “no ongoing threat” to the community.
