A 102-year-old driver has been caught travelling 20km/h over the speed limit during a police operation in Tasmania’s south.
The elderly motorist was detected driving at 80km/h in a 60km/h zone on the Channel Highway at Margate.
The driver was caught during a one-hour traffic operation conducted by Kingston police.
Officers nabbed nine speeding drivers in total during the brief operation.

Two drivers were also found with unregistered and uninsured trailers during the blitz.
“Police ask that all motorists slow down and obey the speed limit,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.
“Our officers will continue to regularly conduct speed reduction operations within the Kingston Division and these will be ramping up closer to the Christmas/New Year period.”
