Tasmanian parents can now access a new support line from today, as part of a partnership between the state government and Tresillian Family Care Centres.

The Tasmanian Parenting Support Line will be available seven days a week from 7am to 11pm on 1300 TAS BUB (1300 827 282).

Specialist Tresillian child and family health nurses will provide support, advice and guidance over the phone.

Health Minister Guy Barnett said the government is proud to partner with Tresillian to deliver the new service.

“Tresillian provides professional advice and specialist support to parents on topics ranging from settling their baby, breastfeeding and bottle-feeding, toddler behaviour, postnatal depression and anxiety, and more,” he said.

Tresillian CEO Professor Rob Mills

“We welcome the launch of the service, which we know will make a big difference to the health and wellbeing of many Tasmanian families.

Tresillian CEO Professor Rob Mills said the service will be particularly beneficial for parents in areas who may have limited access to support services.

“Easy access to a dedicated parents’ help line will be positively life-changing for Tasmanian families especially for those living in regional and geographically isolated areas,” Mills said.

“Parents with concerns about their baby or their own emotional wellbeing can call on our qualified clinicians for practical advice and guidance. It’s so important that parents feel supported, to give them and their child the best start in life.”

In addition to the support line, Tresillian will establish day and residential services in Launceston in late 2025, complete with a four-bed residential unit for parents facing challenges with children aged newborn to three years, consultation rooms and mental health support.
