14-year-old facing dozen charges arrested after failing to appear in court

A teenage boy with an extensive list of alleged offences has been arrested for failing to appear in court.

The 14-year-old is facing nearly a dozen charges, including aggravated armed robbery, arson, assault, theft and drug possession.

He is also accused of trespass, breaching bail, striking a person with an offensive weapon with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm and failing to appear in court.

Inspector John Toohey said the teenager’s serious alleged offending was targeted by Taskforce Saturate.

“He has been remanded to appear in the Hobart Youth Justice Court today,” Toohey said.

“Tasmania Police will continue to prioritise the safety and security of our community and where appropriate, necessary and authorised by law, we will be charging those who offend, and putting them before a Magistrate.”

“Our community deserves to feel safe at home, out in public and in their workplaces.”
