Police said he threatened staff with a knife when confronted outside the store at around 1pm.
Inspector John Toohey said no one was injured in the incident.
“If anyone witnesses illegal or unlawful behaviour, or has information about a crime, they are encouraged to contact police,” he said.
The stolen property was later recovered during several searches.
The teenager appeared in Hobart Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody.
He is scheduled to reappear at a later date.
