A teenage girl has been charged with wounding following a stabbing incident at the Rosny Bus Mall on Monday.
The 15-year-old was arrested within minutes of the incident, which occurred less than 100 metres from the Bellerive Police Station.
Police said the two people involved were known to each other.
The young girl was taken into custody at the scene and has since fronted the Hobart Magistrates Court on a charge of wounding.
The incident came after another person was stabbed inside the nearby Rosny Park KFC restaurant an hour prior.
A police spokesperson told Pulse at the time a young person had sustained non-life-threatening injuries and that officers were searching for the offender allegedly responsible.
The incidents are not believed to be connected.
Police Minister Felix Ellis has since announced officers will trial weapon-detecting wands from December in an effort to detect knives and other weapons on people.
The trial has been welcomed by the Police Association of Tasmania, who say it won’t target ‘mums and dads’, but those known to police and others suspected of doing the wrong thing.
