A 15-year-old Newcastle girl holidaying in Tasmania has been identified as the teenager killed in a collision on the state’s West Coast.
Adasyn Wood-Savin died alongside 38-year-old Rosebery local Whitt when the ATV they were riding collided with a ute on the Murchison Highway on January 3.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Zeehan and Rosebery at about 4:30 pm.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The deaths were the first road fatalities recorded in Tasmania for 2026.
Tasmania Police said an investigation into the cause of the crash was underway, with a report to be prepared for the coroner.

A GoFundMe campaign set up by family friend Ella Mackrell has raised more than $18,600 to help bring Adasyn home and support her grieving family.
“She was having fun, spending time with friends and making memories the way any 16-year-old should,” Mackrell wrote.
The funds will cover funeral expenses, flights for Adasyn’s mother Amber to travel to Tasmania and accommodation for her family.
“No family should ever have to worry about finances while grieving the loss of their child,” Mackrell wrote.
Adasyn is survived by her parents Amber and Adam and brothers James and Hayden.

The fundraiser noted she had been “reunited” with her late brother Cooper.
Police thanked a group of interstate tourists who stopped to provide medical assistance at the scene.
“We would like to take this time to thank everyone who stopped and tried to help in this difficult situation,” Mackrell wrote.
“We also thank all the emergency services who supported everyone through this time.”
