A teenager has been charged with possessing a homemade firearm after two men were allegedly assaulted in a Hobart suburb early on Tuesday.
Tasmania Police arrested the 16-year-old boy and two adult men following the violent incident in Claremont, which left two 18-year-olds injured.
Police allege the first victim was attacked by three offenders known to him on Claremont Link Road about 12:30am. His phone was stolen as he fled.
“About 1:20am, an 18-year-old Chigwell man intervened after hearing the disturbance and was also assaulted,” police said.

“The offenders fled the scene, and the victim contacted police.”
Glenorchy officers executed search warrants at a Claremont address, seizing mobile phones containing footage of both attacks and property belonging to the first victim.

Further examination of the footage revealed a youth discharging a homemade firearm, police said.
A search of another Claremont residence uncovered the weapon, several shotgun cartridges and a .22 calibre round.
The Claremont boy faces seven charges including common assault, possessing a prohibited firearm, recklessly discharging a firearm and dealing in firearms without a licence.
He has been remanded in custody to appear in the Youth Justice Court on Wednesday.
Two adult men remain in custody, with further charges expected.
