More Tasmanians with serious mental illnesses now have access to a new $10.5 million supported accommodation facility in the state’s south.
The Glenson Place group home in Claremont features 14 self-contained units for individuals living with conditions like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression.
The Tasmanian Government contributed $8.5 million to the project, with the remaining $2 million funded by the Fairbrother Foundation.
Housing Minister Felix Ellis said the facility provides a safe and modern environment for those with mental illness.

“The project was developed with input from people with lived experience, ensuring it met the needs of our most vulnerable.”
The units are already all tenanted and are located close to shops, public transport and green spaces.

“This development showcases what can be delivered when government and industry work together to secure the best outcome for Tasmanians in need,” Ellis said.
