A 20-year-old Ravenswood man has been charged with deliberately lighting three scrub fires in the area this month.

Launceston CIB charged the man with three counts of unlawfully setting fire to property following investigations into vegetation fires in bushland at Ravenswood between March 3 and 14.

The charges follow the earlier arrest of a 36-year-old Launceston man over separate fires in the Gorge area this month.

Police say both cases are part of ongoing efforts to tackle deliberately lit fires across the region.

A multi-agency taskforce comprising Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service, the Environment Protection Authority and Launceston City Council worked together to investigate the fires.

The taskforce launched targeted initiatives at the start of fire season and continues investigating suspicious fires throughout the Launceston area.

The Ravenswood man is scheduled to appear in Launceston Magistrates Court on June 3.
