A North Hobart man has been charged with attempted armed robbery after a customer intervened to stop him allegedly threatening pharmacy staff with a knife yesterday afternoon.
The 29-year-old allegedly entered the Chemist Warehouse in North Hobart about 1:15pm on Monday and demanded money from staff while armed with a knife.
A customer stepped in before the would-be robber fled the store empty-handed.
No one was physically injured and nothing was stolen.

Detectives from South East CIB charged the North Hobart man after investigating the incident.
The customer later posted about the dramatic intervention on social media, revealing he struck the armed man with a heavy object.

“I was bored waiting at Chemist Warehouse North Hobart today when some bogan … tried to rob the place with a huge knife,” the customer wrote.
“As others fled, I proceeded to hit [the person] in the back of the head with a heavy object and prevented the armed robbery.”
Police initially described the alleged offender as carrying a Woolworths bag and wearing a black hoodie with light blue jeans, blue and green sports shoes, red gloves and a cloth covering his face.
The 29-year-old has been granted bail to appear in Hobart Magistrates Court on June 22.
