More than 450 people have donated over $31,000 in just two days to help a Brisbane family come to terms with the sudden death of their youngest daughter while on holiday in Tasmania.
Leannedra Kang and her partner Takahiro Toya were found dead on Friday near their crashed rental car in Tasmania’s remote north-east, three days after they were reported missing.
Their car had plunged off a bridge into the Great Musselroe River near the small town of Pioneer, about 10 kilometres away.
The couple were last seen leaving their North Hobart accommodation on June 3 and never made their Wednesday flight home from Launceston.

A GoFundMe page set up by family friend Xuan Tan has since drawn hundreds of donations, with messages of love and support pouring in for the heartbroken family.
“It is with profound sorrow we share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of Leannedra Kang, the cherished youngest child of the Kang family,” Tan wrote on the fundraiser.

“The Kang family is now navigating not only the immense grief of losing their beloved Leannedra but the logistical and financial challenges that come with such an unexpected loss.”
The fundraiser has a $50,000 goal, which Tan said will help cover travel and accommodation for family members heading to Tasmania, along with funeral and memorial expenses.
Inspector Luke Manhood last week said both families were “absolutely devastated” by the tragedy.
“This is a young couple that should have had the rest of their lives ahead of them. They’ve been cut short and the family are very upset,” he said.
Preliminary investigations suggest there are no suspicious circumstances, police said, with a report now being prepared for the coroner.
