Tasmania Devils have sold out both of their R28 membership tiers within hours of going on sale, as fans rushed to lock in their chance to secure a reserved seat for the club’s 2028 AFL season.

The R28 entry-level product, priced at $150, sold out within 15 minutes.

The club released three membership tiers in total, with 4,500 spots spread across them.

The top-end 1866 Club costs $1,500 and a “very limited amount” of those remain available.

Tasmania Football Club chief marketing officer Kath McCann said it had been “another really big milestone day for the club”.

The club said its membership program was built to maintain flexibility

“I’m really proud to say that we’ve sold out of those products today,” McCann said.

“We’re so grateful for the support that we’ve seen from the member base and more broadly from the community.”

McCann said the products were not full memberships but access tiers that guarantee buyers the right to purchase a membership when they are released late next year.

She said the 4,500 figure was based on Ninja Stadium’s smaller capacity, ensuring the club retained around 50% of available seats for future sales.

“We had to balance a need to generate income and provide certainty for members with flexibility for the future, and I think we’ve been able to strike that balance,” she said.

McCann said the club had been personally calling every purchaser since the 1866 product went on sale on Tuesday.

“There’s some of the more joyous conversations that you can have, talking to fans and members that have committed to be on this journey alongside us is something truly humbling,” she said.

For fans who missed out, McCann urged them to remain as Believers, the club’s existing membership tier which now has more than 26,000 members.

“For those that missed out, please stick with us,” she said.

“There are going to be more products.”

She said further membership products would likely be released late next year and would include a range of options such as northern, southern and interstate memberships as well as three-game and five-game packages.

McCann said members who purchased this week would also retain priority access as the club eventually moves to its new home at Macquarie Point, expected in 2031.
