Early voting for Tasmania’s state election is off to a strong start, with more than 37,500 people casting their ballots in just the first week – a significant jump on previous years.
Pre-poll voting has more than doubled compared to the 2024 election, with 16,817 Tasmanians voting at early voting centres by Thursday.
That is up from just 7,650 during the same period last year, according to the Tasmanian Electoral Commission (TEC).
Braddon has recorded the highest turnout so far with 4,001 early votes, followed by Clark with 3,873.

Franklin and Lyons have each seen 3,099 voters, while Bass has notched up 2,745 early ballots.
Nearly 21,000 postal ballot packs have also been sent out to electors unable to a polling place in person.

The TEC is reminding voters that time is running out to apply for a postal vote, applications must be received before 4pm on Friday, July 11.
For Tasmanians who will be interstate or overseas during the polling period, telephone voting is an option, the TEC said.
This service opens on July 7 and will run on weekdays until election day, with extended hours on July 18 and 19.
With polling day set for Saturday, July 19, voters still have two weeks to decide how they will cast their ballot in this year’s state election.
