More than 500 Rotarians from Tasmania and Victoria will descend on Hobart this weekend for one of the largest combined service conferences southern Australia has seen.
The joint Rotary Districts 9815 and 9830 Conference runs from Friday to Sunday at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, bringing together community leaders tackling everything from youth mental health to international disaster relief.
The public can get involved at Saturday’s free Community Expo, featuring hands-on displays covering youth programs, environmental protection, emergency response and mental health initiatives.
“Rotary changes lives – in our local towns and right across the world,” Tasmanian District Governor Craig Perkins said.

“If you’ve ever wondered what Rotary actually does, this expo is your chance to see it in action.”
Victorian District Governor Peter Behm said the cross-border partnership creates bigger impact than either state could achieve alone.

“When Rotarians come together, great things happen,” he said.
“We’re excited to welcome the public to experience the projects, the energy and the spirit of service that define Rotary.”
More than 30 action groups will have representatives on hand to chat about their work.
The Expo doubles as both showcase and recruitment drive for anyone considering volunteering.

With cost-of-living pressures mounting and growing demand on community services across Tasmania, Rotary believe they are playing an increasingly vital role.
The Community Expo is on today from 1pm-3pm at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart. Entry is free.
