On the ten-year anniversary of the tragic murder of Simon Crisp, Tasmania Police are making a renewed plea for information in the hopes of finally solving the case.

44-year-old Crisp was fatally shot behind the Marrawah Tavern on July 13 2013 and his unsolved murder has haunted investigators and loved ones ever since.

Crisp was killed while he was putting out the rubbish at the Tavern on the morning of July 13 in a ‘premeditated and callous’ act of violence.

Crisp’s partner and daughter were inside the pub at the time, completely unaware of the tragedy unfolding outside.

Tasmania Police Detective Inspector Steve Jones said 10 years on, the investigation remains open and ongoing.

“To date hundreds of people have been spoken to by investigators and a significant number discounted as to their involvement, however, there remains a small number of persons of interest,” Jones said.

“Investigators continue to believe that there are people in the community who have crucial information in relation to who murdered Simon and I implore those people to come forward.”

A substantial reward of up to $500,000 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or people responsible remains on offer.

“10 years have passed since Simon’s death and we are confident that with the passing of time, personal circumstances may have changed that will enable someone to provide the information required to close this case and provide answers for Simon’s family and friends.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Burnie CIB on 131 444 of Crime Stoppers Tasmania.

Crime Stoppers Tasmania CEO David Higgins encouraged anyone with information about the murder to consider reporting it anonymously through Crime Stoppers Tasmania.

“Crime Stoppers don’t need your name or personal details, just the information you’re reporting for police investigation, and you can still be eligible for the reward,” Higgins said.
