Margate’s Brookfield Shed Cafe will be closing its doors on January 25th after 7 years of what its owners have described as a ‘hell of a ride’.

The popular cafe will ‘go on a break’ after battling through 2018 floods, Covid and now the rising cost of living, all of which have collectively ‘taken a toll’.

“The decision has not come lightly,” owner Julia Ridgers wrote online on Sunday morning.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support over the years and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for being apart of my journey.”

Functions, charity meals, the farm and the food van will continue to operate out of Brookfield, with locals wishing the business all the best for the future.

“Brookfield is a beautiful and sentimental and loved part of the Channel by many. Hopefully better times will come,” said one.

“Margate won’t be the same without Brookfield,” wrote another.

The cafe will continue to open from 9am to 2:30pm from now through until Thursday January 25th.
