The Australian Defence Force will throw open the gates of Anglesea Barracks to the public as part of nationwide celebrations marking 125 years of the Australian Army and Navy.
The Hobart base will host a community open day on Saturday, March 14 to showcase military equipment, capabilities and career opportunities to visitors.
More than 30 exhibitors from the ADF, federal and state government agencies and community organisations will set up displays featuring historical items, simulators and demonstrations of military roles.
“The public will also be able to meet ADF members and find out more about defence career opportunities,” organisers said.

Local military units, bands, historical associations and cadets will also perform throughout the day. Artillery and rifle blank firing will feature as part of the demonstrations.
The free event runs from 11am to 4:30pm at the Davey Street barracks.

Food will be available from local vendors, with free shuttle buses running from the Regatta Grounds where parking is available.
The open day forms part of Australia’s recognition of the military services established in 1901 alongside Federation.
Registration is available through Eventbrite, though attendance remains free for all visitors.
