Another man charged after jewellery worth thousands stolen in Hobart smash-and-grab

A second man has been charged over the alleged smash-and-grab robbery of a Hobart jewellery store that saw watches and rings worth thousands of dollars stolen.

The 40-year-old from New Norfolk was arrested this morning and charged with burglary, stealing, motor vehicle theft and driving whilst disqualified.

He joins a 33-year-old man previously charged over the same crime and will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

The arrests stem from the brazen 2am break-in at Mismo Cielo on Murray Street on July 13.

The pair are accused of smashing through security doors and the glass shopfront before fleeing with jewellery.

Despite the two arrests, none of the stolen goods have been recovered.

“The watches and jewellery stolen during the burglary remain outstanding,” police said.

Investigators are appealing to anyone with information about the location of the stolen watches and jewellery to contact them on 131 444.
